Gender Equality Capitalism & Pleasurable Activism

EcoFeminist EntrepreneurUsing business as a tool for female equality is contrary to the teachings of certain strains of feminism. To the detriment of women in general, some feminists have associated patriarchy with capitalism. They tend to look towards charity and government-based policies for solutions to the issues around gender equality. They base their movement on 'victim politics'.

With females being half the population, they are the single largest persecuted 'minority' on the planet.

Calling for women to have an equal share in the stewardship of the world is not anti-male. On the contrary, women's rights are human rights and human rights benefit men too.

A HedoFeminist Entrepreneur can benefit everyone

In every country where women have more power such as the Scandinavian countries, society is more eco-friendly, less violent, less criminality, better sex, less overpopulation, less spent on the military, and fewer people in jail. The most aggressive countries are those such as in Africa and the Middle East where masculinity rules unchecked.

Men have run the world for at least 5000 years and with wars, overpopulation, pollution, and mass extinction they have thoroughly destroyed it. Women have been cleaning up the messes of men since the time they were born. It's time they claim their fair share of power and clean up the entire planet.

And being an EcoFeminist Entrepreneur is a great way to change the world and give yourself a meaningful job in the process.

Many people are too focused on their dramas to care enough about big-picture issues to do something. The system is not broken. It’s just that people are too ‘busy’, cynical, or lazy to play a role in it.

However, when your business is actively pursuing social goals such as gender equality, by default you will be politically active as part of your business plan.

Even in the Trump era, public pressure in the form of calls or emails to state politicians is still one of the most effective ways to have a voice in this country and affect legislation.

As a business, you can direct public pressure as part of your company strategy whether it's through your workers or volunteers, on your product packages, and in other company PR and advertising.

Big Oil does it all the time with their oil lobbyists and other paid political operatives. For them, it's just the cost of doing business! Imagine if we had 'Big Femme Entrepreneurs' whose companies also played a role in the political process.

We hope to show you how to be an EcoFeminist Entrepreneur and make a living by creating a better world for women which in turn makes it better for men too.

Pleasurable Activism: Make a living by Making a Difference

“The greatest feminists have also been the greatest lovers. I'm thinking not only of Mary Wollstonecraft and her daughter Mary Shelley, but of Anais Nin, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and course Sappho. You cannot divide creative juices from human juices. And as long as juicy women are equated with bad women, we will err on the side of being bad.” ― Erica Jong

Female Fruit of Economic Empowerment

Fruits of Labor

A Hedopreneur is someone who works with gender equality or sexuality to improve the lives of people or the planet. Sexuality is one of the remaining areas where you can apply social entrepreneur principles to create products or services to benefit the planet and society.

When we look at sexuality today, we see that the famous Sexual Revolution that began in the sixties has now stalled. After more than 50 years of feminism, women live in a world that is still overwhelmingly run by men.

There are many imaginative and fun ways to work with sexuality. Sex is about pleasure. It is also about healing. Sexuality is already used in business. Often in negative ways.

Aside from creating employment and pleasure, we will be discussing ways to create a product or service that uses sexuality to address a real problem.

From sex and violence to sex and religion to sex and the media, sexuality touches almost all facets of human behavior.

Living in a sexy but not sexual world is rather like having a diet of junk food. Superficially it is fulfilling but it is not healthy on a deeper level. Lack of sexual satisfaction in people's lives leads to 'sexual substitution'. People engage in behavior such as compulsive shopping or even violence to fill the gap that is created by an unsatisfying love life.

Hedo Feminista is a look at many of the problems facing society today from the perspective of sexual dysfunction. We observe the connection of sex to both a problem and possible solutions. However, unlike most academic, theoretical, or therapy-based approaches to looking at sex, we try to take a more practical approach.

Any entrepreneurial ideas generated by this discussion group or in the Essays about Sex and Society are royalty-free for other group participants to use should they decide to turn one into reality. You are of course welcome to give a ‘shout out’ to the group if you succeed.

  1. The way it is - Identify the Problem: We identify an area of sexual dysfunction. For example, in Sex and Politics, we might look at the sex scandals that plague male politicians and we try to identify the underlying causes and dysfunctions this causes.
  2. The way it could be - HedoFeminist Entrepreneur Solution: We suggest business ideas and commercial solutions that attempt to address the issue based on our research.

Many of the articles have ideas that could form the basis of a new ethical erotic enterprise that members can start on their own without having to pay any royalty or licensing if they use any of the ideas we suggest in the book.

Benefits of being a HedoFeminist Entrepreneur

The ideas in the book are for all kinds of businesses in various fields that support gender equality based on 7 pillars of female empowerment:

What pillars of female empowerment do you feel passionate about? Those might be the pillars where you create an ecofeminist business!

  1. Intellectual Empowerment: One of the most significant barriers to equality is restricting access to education for women and girls. In many places around the world, girls are forbidden from attending school. Though it is not prohibited in Islam, in many Muslim-majority countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan or Egypt, female children are not taught to read or write. Often their roles are limited to learning domestic duties. In other countries, low female literacy rates are linked to poverty, war, social insecurity, etc.

Though it is transforming, many young women perceive the world of business as less feminine. We argue that female education and independent intellectual thought are a bedrock for personal empowerment and equality.

  1. Economic Empowerment: Women make up a disproportionate number of the most economically disadvantaged people on the planet. Today, many women still have no choice but to rely on a man to provide for them. Projects that provide women with alternatives to this paradigm and aid women in attaining greater financial independence account for some of the most promising leaps toward greater women’s empowerment.
  2. Physical Empowerment: Ending violence against women is still one of the primary areas of focus for feminists worldwide. Laws and law enforcement can only do so much to protect women. More action is required to encourage women's physical empowerment. What can we do to help women and girls feel more confident in defending and fighting for themselves? One way could be to advocate for self-defense and weapons training, including the use of mace, tear gas, pepper spray, and guns or any other defensive tool that equalizes the unequal strength advantage that many men have over women.
  3. Environmental Empowerment: Endeavors that protect the environment also serve to help women. Across the world, women's work is disproportionally more connected to the earth and dramatically affected by climate change. Initiatives that improve humanity's relationship with Mother Earth also help improve women’s lives and general attitudes towards femininity. Connecting with nature is also empowering for women, who can often feel disconnected from the natural world like most of us in modern society. Feeling comfortable in the wild is sometimes perceived as less feminine.
  4. Reproductive Empowerment: Providing women with the supplies and access to information and education to make informed decisions about their bodies and reproductive health can further empower women. The after-effects of a sexual encounter generally have far greater repercussions for women. In sum, unwanted pregnancy can seriously limit a woman's options in life. When women have unwanted pregnancies, they can be fired from a job if they do have employment, or will eventually have to stop working, which cuts off an income source and increases her economic burden by having to provide for an additional person.
  5. Sexual Empowerment: Recent years have seen a growing movement against the severe disparity between men and women in terms of language and perceptions of sexual expression: from attempts to legalize sex work to SlutWalks worldwide, many people are working to shift the balance of this double standard.
  6. Legal Empowerment: Legal empowerment applies in part to each of the other areas previously detailed. When businesses lobby on behalf of women or work to change the laws to advocate for greater rights and equality for women, they would certainly then be classified as an EcoFeminist enterprise.
